Two IFTA nominated features are lined up to screen at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in the coming days. Juanita Wilson’s ‘As If I Am Not There’ will screen on Friday, January 14th whilst Risteard O’Domhnaill’s feature documentary, ‘The Pipe’ is to show on Saturday, January 15th. Ian Power’s IFTA nominated film, ‘The Runway’ screened at the event on January 10th.
Juanita Wilson’s ‘As If I Am Not There’ will screen at the PALM Springs Festival on Friday, January 14th as part of a group of films entitled New Voices/ New Visions. The feature tells the story of a young woman from Sarajevo whose life is shattered the day a young soldier walks into her apartment and tells her to pack her things. The film stars Natasha Petrovic and is produced by James Flynn (King Arthur) and Nathalie Lichtenthaler (Cowboys and Angels) for Octagon Films and Wide Eye Films respectively.
Risteard O’Domhnaill’s feature documentary, ‘The Pipe’ is to show as part of the festival’s True Stories section on Saturday, January 15th. The award-winning documentary tells the compelling story of Rossport's struggle against the economic might of Shell and the tragic divisions that have split a once-peaceful and close knit community. It is produced by Rachel Lysaght (Underground Films) and edited by Nigel O’Regan for Scannáin Inbhear.
Inspired by a true story, Ian Power's ‘The Runway’ screened at the festival as part of the World Cinema Now group. The feature tells the tale of a South American pilot who crashed his plane in a field near an Irish town in 1983, and how the community came together to fix his plane and build a runway to get him home. Starring Demian Bichir (Che), Kerry Condon (This Must Be The Place, Rome) and James Cosmo (Outcast) the film is produced by Macdara Kelleher (Colony), Brendan McDonald (The Yard) and Bernard Michaux (Lumen).
