The call for applications for the 2011 MeetMarket at Sheffield Doc/Fest is now open. Documentary, factual and cross-platform filmmakers can submit their pitches online until Friday, April 1st for the possibility of being one of the approximately 65 projects selected to compete.
The chosen projects will pitch new documentary, factual and cross-platform projects to over 170 decision makers, buyers, funders and mentors at the event. This year, approximately 65 projects will be selected to pitch, all of whom will have one-to-one meeting with key funders and decision-makers match-made and scheduled.
Projects can be at any stage from early development to post-production, and do not need to have financing secured. Producers can be from anywhere in the world and international submissions are welcome
Projects can also be in any genre of documentary/factual, from factual entertainment through to art/installation documentaries. Cross-platform/interactive projects are also accepted and those projects looking to raise finance and distribute/exhibit their projects through alternative strategies including via crowd funding and third sector.
Last year 175 companies in total including BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Five, Arte France, ARTE ZDF, Irish Film Board, RTÉ, VPRO, YouTube, IndieGoGo, NHK and TRT attended the events. MeetMarket generated over £14m in negotiation in 2010.
The application process requires a synopsis, one-minute teaser, headline budget figures and biographical information on participants. The MeetMarket 2011 at Sheffield Doc/Fest will take place between June 8th and 12th. MeetMarket is supported by the MEDIA programme of the European Union.
