A Show is ‘Byrne’, Adare Focus on X Factor Star | The Irish Film & Television Network

Post production has been completed on ‘A Star is Byrne – Scéal Mary Byrne’ in Dublin’s Highwire. Produced by Adare productions the one hour special will look at Mary’s first foray into competitive musical reality TV with her participation in ‘Nollaig No. 1’. The show will also chronicle Mary’s recent ‘X Factor’ journey.

‘A Star is Byrne – Scéal Mary Byrne’ examines the 2008 Irish reality show ‘Nollaig No. 1’ which was produced by Adare Productions for TG4. Commissioned by RTÉ’s Mairéad Ní Nuadháin, ‘Nollaig No. 1’ was the first show to star Mary Byrne who went on to win the show and released the single ‘Siúil Leat’ (an Irish language version of Gerry and the Pacemakers’ ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’) as a result.

‘A Star is Byrne – Scéal Mary Byrne’ follows Mary's progress throughout the TG4 competition and, through interviews with family and colleagues which shot over the last two weeks, brings audiences through recent events in May’s life – in particular her participation in the ‘X Factor’. The one hour special is directed by Brian Graham (Livin’ with Lucy) and produced by Tom O’Brannagáin (Cowboys).

Audiences can watch ‘A Star is Byrne – Scéal Mary Byrne’ on Friday, December 10th at 8:00pm on TG4.
