RTÉ Entertainment programming ideas are currently being accepted and a deadline of January 31st 2011 has been set for the submission of ideas for the 6.30pm slot on Sunday evenings throughout Autumn 2011 on RTÉ.
The Entertainment commissioning editor, Eddie Doyle has said that he and his team need to make decisions on the slot and, as such, they feel the need to place a deadline on the receipt of ideas. Eddie works alongside Entertainment Executive Producer, Justin Healy and Entertainment Assistant Commissioning Editor, Tonyia Dowling.
Submitted RTÉ Entertainment programmes will show on Sunday evenings at 6.30pm during the Autumn months next year. General guidelines ask for an 8 x 52 minute series with a budget of up to €100,000, or €110,000 per hour for location based factual entertainment formats. Studio or other formats budgets variable, based on type of proposal. Eddie and his team have requested submissions of high-energy, family programming with simple, accessible formats and ideas with grassroots Irish appeal.
Furthermore, evidence of thoughtful ways of managing the emotional impact of, and audience engagement in, the programme will be helpful and proposals may be original ideas or adapted international formats, or the format can derive from a mix of genres, reality, comedy or game show. Finally, suggestions for presenter or presenters should be included in the submission.
Anyone with a proposal they would like considered should send it to Entertainment under the programme category detailed above on RTÉ’s eCommissioning page by the end of January 2011. Any proposals received after this date will be considered for other slots. The eCommissioning page is www.rte.ie
