Ireland’s First Live Opera Stream Tonight | The Irish Film & Television Network

Opera Ireland will stream the opening night of their 2010 season with a performance of Puccini's Tosca in the Gaiety Theatre. This is Ireland's first ever live Internet streaming of opera and audiences can watch Puccini's tragic masterpiece featuring internationally acclaimed Irish soprano, Orla Boylan for free, from 7.30pm on platformireland.ie, a new Irish arts and cultural digital channel. Using computers or smart phones, opera lovers can watch Thursday's performance under the baton of maestro Gianluca Martinenghi in HD from the comfort of their homes or on the go.

Approximately 500 meters away Muzu.tv, an online music video portal based in Dublin who regularly host live concerts and interviews with musicians and bands will host Mexican guitar duo, Rodrigo y Gabriela in their in-house studio on Thursday, 11th November, also at 8pm. The concert will also be broadcast free on the Internet in HD, at Muzu.tv.

ViewCast is providing the streaming technologies involved in tonight’s proceedings. The latest in their Niagara series is the Niagara 7500 HD, which can deliver multiple streams from a single source in Windows Media or Flash up to 1080p resolutions. Tyrell CCT have provided both companies with the streaming appliances, the onsite set up and also consulted on the technical requirements and related aspects of the events.
