Production is currently underway on the set of ‘Lockout’. The film, written and directed by Irish duo Stephen St. Leger and James Mather (the creative team behind 2004 short ‘Prey Alone’) is shooting for eight weeks in Belgrade until mid December and stars Guy Pearce (Momento) and Maggie Grace (The Fog, Lost). The film’s editing work commenced in Dublin’s Windmill Lane in June 2010 and will finish in June 2011.
‘Lockout’ will see Guy Pearce play a falsely convicted ex-government agent whose only chance of freedom is to accept a dangerous mission to rescue the president's daughter, played by Maggie Grace, from rioting prisoners at an outer space maximum security prison. The film’s other cast members include Peter Stormare (The Big Lebowski), Vincent Regan (300) and Lennie James (Snatch).
The project boasts a $30 million budget and marks Stephen St. Leger and James Mather’s directorial feature debut, the latter is also on board as director of photography for the project. The feature is being made with the backing of French Studio, Europacorp headed by Luc Besson (I Love You Philip Morris, From Paris with Love) who will also produce the film.
’Lockout’ is to be released by Peter Schlessel and Bob Berney at FilmDistrict – a deal that was negotiated by Peter Schlessel and EuropaCorp’s Pierre-Ange Le Pogam. EuropaCorp began pre-selling international rights to the film at the Cannes Film Festival's market in May, selling most territories by the time of the Toronto fest in September.
Irish post house, Windmill Lane Pictures has created a new film visual effects production facility in Sandyford in order to carry out post production work on the project to allow the group to produce all the visual effects its new Dublin facility.
