A recent study has found that UPC’s subscriber numbers rose 9.3% since the end of last year’s third quarter compared to the same time this year. Now boasting approximately 762,700 subscribers, UPC has also seen a 37% growth in their broadband customers, a 64% increase in phone customers and a 11% boost to their Digital TV subscriber numbers.
The Liberty Global study examined the financial and operating results for the third quarter of this year which ended September 30, 2010. Highlights for the quarter when compared to the same period for 2009 saw the number of subscribers rise 9.3% to 762,700. The group now has 184,700 broadband customers, up 37% year on year with UPC’s next generation fibre optic network being credited with the increase. Furthermore the group now has 87,200 phone customers, up 64% year on year and 375,500 Digital TV subscribers, up 11% year on year.
Commenting on the results Robert Dunn, CEO of UPC Ireland, said: "This is our third consecutive quarter of accelerating growth. We continue to focus on expanding the reach of our fibre network which is driving consumer demand for our multi-product offering. At the same time, we are extending our lead in the provision of high-speed internet with the impending launch of our 100Mb Fibre Power Broadband service, initially in Dublin and we will widen to further parts of the country during 2011.”
