From January 1st 2011, several changes will be introduced into the Eurimages Regulations for Co-Production Support. These include a requirement to have 50% of funding in place for projects by the submission deadline and will also mean that submitters will have to include a digital master copy of their project for cinema release and the option of resubmitting previously withdrawn projects is now allowed.
The changes to the regulations will mean that submitters must now provide evidence that proves that at least 50% of their project’s financing is confirmed in each territory of the co-production. This will have to be provided by the date of the submission of the project, at the latest and failure to comply with this provision will entail the automatic exclusion of the project from the selection process.
With regards to the shooting of the project, the executive director, Roberto Olla, may agree to up to half of the total shooting taking place before the Board of Management’s examination of the project, if he sees this as a justifiable move. Anyone hoping to make use of this change should send a written request (along with the shooting schedule) to the executive director.
Another new measure means that submitted projects must include a digital master copy for cinema release (min. 2K compatible with DCI specifications or ISO norms on D-Cinema). As a result, the production budget must include the relevant costs necessary for the completion of a digital master copy. Producers can also include costs for a 35mm copy.
Finally projects submitted but withdrawn before the Board of Management meeting can be resubmitted only once. For further information as to the above changes visit www.coe.int/eurimages
