CR Entertainment’s producers Nuno Bernardo & Triona Campbell were in Cannes last night, (Wednesday, October 7th) to pick up the prize of the C21 Best International Multi-platform Format Award for their thriller ‘Final Punishment’. The competition was held during MIPCOM 2010. This is the 2nd award win for this thriller series, which was previously also nominated for an Emmy and for a Rose D’Or.
‘Final Punishment’ is a multi-platform thriller created by Bernardo and set in a futurist female prison where a mysterious force is killing off the inmates in the manner they committed their crimes. The series, which shot in Brazil, asks the audience to help solve the mystery to save the remaining inmates before they die. Premiered at last year’s Rio De Janeiro Film Festival the series extended to Mobile phones, TV and the Internet and was commissioned by Brazilian Telecom Oi. ‘Final Punishment’ stars Lívia Maria Senatori from the TV series ‘Brazil’s Next Top Model’ as well as several well-known Brazilian TV stars.
Two of CR Entertainment’s multi platform projects had been nominated in the category with ‘Beat Generation’ also featuring in the group. Speaking in Dublin after returning from Cannes Triona Campbell commented on ‘Final Punishment’s win, saying: “We are thrilled with this international recognition for the project which is now also being produced in Russia as a spin off. This has been a long road as we originally wanted to shoot the series in Ireland but couldn’t find partners for it at the time which forced us to look abroad and we were incredibly lucky to have received so much support from Brazilian Telecom Oi.”
