'Sweet Baby Jesus' Moves Production to UK/Italy | The Irish Film & Television Network

Rebboah confirmed to IFTN that production has moved away from Ireland as a result of direct equity investment. The film, announced earlier this year, was to be directed by Peter Hewitt (Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey) who is now no longer attached to the project. Similarly John Phelan (The Magnificent Ambersons) of Bootstrap Films, who was originally the Irish co-producer for 'Sweet Baby Jesus' is no longer involved with the feature. “We fully appreciate their decision on finance grounds and we wish them well,” Phelan tells IFTN, when asked about the decision to move the film’s shooting locations. “It's tough raising money to make films and you go where you get that money,” he concluded.

Producer Phillippe Rebboah tells IFTN that singers Bette Midler and Pixie Lott and British comedian Catherine Tate will all star in the film. ‘Sweet Baby Jesus’ centres around Mary, a pregnant young hippie in the seventies who visits her mother for Christmas along with her boyfriend Joe. ‘Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall originally featured in the cast but is no longer attached. Phillippe had originally thought to shoot the film in the U.S. but tells us that he has now decided on a European shoot.

The feature is written by Steve Blair (I Do and I Don’t) and is being produced by Cine8media. ‘Sweet Baby Jesus’ UK sales agents are Intandem UK. Further crew details are TBC.
