Eddie Hobbs (Rip off Republic) and Keelin Shanley (Prime Time) will look to fight for Irish consumers’ rights in ‘The Consumer Show’ starting this Monday, September 6th at 8.30pm. The pair will front the new Coco Television series that aims to champion on behalf of the buying public and raise awareness of important consumer issues.
The show will focus on consumer information and advice looking at specific case studies which expose poor value, sharp practice and unacceptable standards. Joining Hobbs and Shanley will be ‘Consumer Champion’ Tina Leonard, who will provide additional expertise with her past experience as Director of the European Consumer Centre Ireland. The show’s studio director is Pat Cowap (The Panel) and the locations director is Martin Danneels (Only Fools Buy Horses).
Production manager for the series is Judy Ford and the series producer is David Malone (MacIntyre’s Underworld) with Nicky Bolster (Buyer Beware) producing. Funded by RTÉ, the series will shoot in front of a studio audience on the day of transmission, just before its broadcast and will comprise of reports and interviews.
Eddie Hobbs said of the upcoming series:“From slick scams to shoddy customer service, we’ll be righting wrongs, exposing scams, and unmasking blaggers & chancers the length and breadth of the country.” His co-host Keelin Shanley added that:“In these recessionary times, where every penny counts, we hope that The Consumer Show will be a valuable resource for members of the public in standing up for their rights.”
The sound mixer for the show is Killian Fitzgerald (Diary of a …) and the set designer is Anita Barrett (Seoige and O’Shea). The executive producers of the series are Coco Television’s Stuart Switzer (Any Given Sunday) and Linda Cullen (Cabin Fever).
