Dublin’s Helix theatre will play host to the Irish version of hit reality dating show ‘Take Me Out’ on TV3 this autumn. The fast-moving show sees 30 women hoping to find their match. The Series Producer on board is Billy McGrath (Class Act, The Model Agent) and the series is to be directed by Simon Staffurth (Take Me Out, An Audience with Elton John).
‘Take Me Out’ will see 30 women introduced to 4 single males following which they have to decide whether they want to go out with them or not. Each girl stands behind a podium with a light and if she doesn't like what she sees, she presses her buzzer to turn off her light indicating her lack of interest. If more than two girls want to date the guy then he decides who he goes out with the date happening immediately after the show.
As to the look of the show - the series will be filmed in a specially designed studio in the O’Mahony Hall of the Helix where set designer Anita Barrett (Class Act, Rose of Tralee) will work alongside lighting designer Andrew Leonard (Fame the Musical) and Hi Res’s Peter Canning (Eurovision Song Contest Moscow).
The producers for Sideline include Tony Brady (The Afternoon Show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire) and Gary Flood (The Restaurant and Operation Transformation).
The group’s crew will further include production manager Dee Keane (You’re a Star), researcher Kate Olohoan (Desperate Houses), VT producer Lisa McCaghy (TV Now Awards), location director / editor Mick Brennan (Cleamhnas Tg4) and assistant producer Martin Crehan (St Patrick’s Fest CBS USA, Ireland’s Biggest Hits)
OB and Post Production will be provided by Observe and ScreenScene with Ken Binley and Sarah Carraher supervising. The Irish license for ‘Take Me Out’ was acquired from the rights holders Fremantle directly by TV3’s Director of Programmes Ben Frow, Commissioning Editor Fintan Maguire and negotiated by Damien O’Hara with Fremantle’s Justin Hatfield.
The ITV version is presented by Paddy McGuinness with the frontman for the Irish series still TBC.
