Still Films Building 'Something Modern' | The Irish Film & Television Network

The feature was commissioned by the Irish Arts Council and the Dublin International Film Festival to produce and will explore the strange phenomenon of Irish architects exporting hundreds of modernist designs for structures to be built in Africa in the early 1960’s. Still Films’ Nicky Gogan (Seaview) and Paul Rowley (The Rooms) will direct the piece which will be also produced by Maya Derrington (Seaview) and shot mostly by Paul. The budget for the feature is €80,000.

Still Films also have several productions in development stages including feature drama ‘Morocco’, directed by Nicky Gogan and Paul Rowley. Nicky and Paul will look to weave through labyrinthine medinas, sprawling construction sites, and abandoned mountain villages in Morocco whilst telling the story of how a man's greed leads quickly to his alienation and unravelling in an atmosphere of cultural misunderstanding and paranoia. The features’ cast and shoot dates are TBC.

Finally, Nicky Gogan is the Irish co-producer on a project currenrtly in development called ‘Possession of the Sea’, a feature length animated documentary about the history of Somali Pirates. Written by F. Wolting and T. Pallota who will also both direct, the film is a co-production with Submarine, a production company based in the Netherlands.
