The Tokyo International Film Festival has announced that Oscar winning Irish filmmaker, Neil Jordan is to be the Jury President at this year’s 23rd instalment of the festival. The festival runs from 23 – 31 of October 2010.
The Oscar winning and IFTA winning writer/director of films such as ‘The Crying Game’ and ‘Ondine’, Neil has been associated with the festival since its first event in 1985 where his film, ‘Company of Wolves’ was selected for competition. Hosted by the Japanese Association for International Promotion of the Moving Image, this year’s event will take place in Roppongi Hills in Minato City and other areas in Tokyo’s metropolitan area.
As the only Japanese film festival accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), TIFF has played an integral role in Japan's film industry and cultural scene since its establishment in 1985. The prizes awarded at the festival include the Tokyo Sakura Grand prix, the Special Jury Award and prizes for best actor, actress and director.
