Niall Cogley is soon to exit his position of CEO of Setanta Sports to undertake a new undisclosed venture. The position will be filled in the interim by Setanta’s co-founder Michael O’Rourke whilst a permanent replacement is sought.
Niall Cogley will leave his position as Chief Executive of Setanta Sports in the next few months. The method of finding Mr. Cogley’s replacement has yet to be decided with Setanta spokesperson Brian Quinn telling IFTN: “We don’t know yet how it will be done. It may be advertised or we may use contacts in the business.”
Niall Cogley has been CEO of Setanta Sports for over six years and recently spoke to IFTN about the resurgence of the channel following financial difficulties in 2009: “First of all you have to keep floating, then you have to try and make sure that you have a good understanding of what is going to happen to you and then try and position your business in to a place where you can cope with it. Basically you have to try and make sure that your business plan makes sense.”
Niall is leaving the station to establish a new venture but, Quinn tells us, he will still maintain certain ties to Setanta Sports: “Niall approached the backers of Setanta Sports with a venture idea that they liked,” Brian explains. “So he will be around the place but involved with his new venture.” The premise of this new venture will be announced at a later date.
