Production on the fourth series of the IFTA nominated Irish language series ‘Seacht’ will begin on 5 July on location in Belfast. The shoot, which is scheduled to last eight weeks, will take place primarily in and around the Queen's Quarter of the city.
The edgy drama, which follows the highs and lows of students at a school for the performing arts, is produced by Stirling Film and TV Productions. With eight episodes in this current series Paul Riordan and John Howlett are directing whilst Colin O'Donnell is producing. Angus Mitchell is Director of Photography.
The programme, which will be broadcast on TG4 and BBC NI in January 2011, won the ‘Young People’ category at the Celtic Media Awards in Newry last April.
Cast favourites Eoghan McDermott (Pete) and Michelle Beamish (Paddy) will return to the series which also stars Aoife Nic Ardghail (Linda), Cillian Ó Donnachadha (Brian), Andy Kavanagh (Decko), Neasa Ní Chuanaigh (Joanne) and Alana Henderson (Caroline) to name but a few.
Christy Scoltock and Sian Rutledge will edit the programme, which will also contain subtitles so that non-Irish speakers will be able to follow the drama and excitement from where it left off in series three.
Funding for this year's eight part series comes from the Irish Language Broadcast Fund, TG4 and BBC
