Cinemagic has launched its annual call for 25 young film enthusiasts to take on the role of ‘film consultants’ and help select a series of films for the 20th Coca-Cola Cinemagic International Film & Television Festival for Young People that takes place in Belfast from 11th-26th November 2010.
Over the course of a three day workshop in Queen’s Film Theatre, beginning on Wednesday 7th July, the Cinemagic young consultants will work with the Cinemagic team to help steer the choice of films for the 20th Anniversary Festival, as they watch and critique films from around the globe. For budding film critics aged between 10 and 18 years who would enjoy the opportunity to spend three days (10.00am-4.00pm) from Wednesday 7th July - Friday 9th July working with Cinemagic in Belfast, this is an opportunity to meet other likeminded young people and have a say in deciding the content of the largest film festival for young people in Ireland and the UK. The chosen film consultants will also contribute ideas for the festival programme and help with the marketing and promotion of festival events.
Chris Shaw, Cinemagic Film Programmer explains what the young consultants can look forward to, saying: “Cinemagic is dedicated to providing new and exciting opportunities for young people with all interests in film, whether they want to enjoy new films or take their interest to a new level and explore career options in the film industry. The young film consultants will have the opportunity to watch and review international films they would not normally have access to and the panel will represent the youth of Ireland at this year’s film festival taking place in Belfast in November.
”We are looking forward to bringing together a group of enthusiastic young people to work on the festival from July through to December. The three day workshop will provide lots of opportunities for discussion and debate and provide a lively platform for young people to interact with each other.”
