Ray Winstone (Nil By Mouth, The Departed) will arrive in Dublin this September for the shooting of new romantic comedy, ‘Three Days in Dublin’. Irish co-producers Zanzibar films will also go into co-production with 'Apples and Oranges ' in September.
Cameras will roll on the set of ‘Three Days in Dublin’ for six to seven weeks in September. The film, produced by Freyja Films centres around Julianna, an award winning journalist who, despite her friend’s warnings, falls for Dublin-based Brendan (played by ‘Cinderella Man’ actor Craig Warnock). When she wins an assignment to go to the city, said friends – Connie and Susan - decide to accompany her on the trip, vowing to look after her. That is until they both get sidetracked and a new friend, Ray Winstone’s Fin, has to pick up the pieces of Julianna’s heart. Winstone has previously filmed the features 'King Arthur' and 'Agnes Browne' in Ireland.
The actress playing Julianna is yet to be confirmed, however, Connie is to be played by Alysia Reiner (Sideways, Kissing Jessica Stein) and Susan will be played by Marin Gazzaniga (So Close, 2k3). Other cast members include David Alan Basche (War of the Worlds, Sex and the City 2) and Peggy Cafferty (Ladder 49, Kimberly).
The feature is written and directed by Freyja Film's Beth Lauren (writer, producer Fairytale of New York) who will also produce. The film's Irish co-producer for Zanzibar Films is Edwina Forkin (Swansong: Story of Occi Byrne) . The film’s cinemtographer is Joe Foley (Happiness) and the editor is Virginie Danglades (Fright Club). ‘Three Days in Dublin’ will be theatrically released during the summer of 2011. Finance for the film is coming from the U.S and Section 481.
Zanzibar Films will go into production at the same time with the romantic comedy, ‘Oranges and Apples’, written and directed by Richard Scobie (66 Degrees North) and also produced by Edwina Forkin.
The film tells the tale of sworn bachelor Artie who meets single mother Rubie. Both have secrets, struggles and a jaded past but will a chance meeting in an apartment block lead them up the altar or down an art gallery? The film will shoot in Dublin and New York and will again be released next summer.
