Teens Invited to Submit TV Comedy Ideas | The Irish Film & Television Network

RTÉ Young Peoples has launched ‘Swede Me’, a TV competition in which three winning groups will win the opportunity to make their own mini comedy TV shows with a professional crew. Their creations will be shown on RTÉ Two this autumn.

‘Swede Me’ is a series of short comic films made by teenagers, about teenagers. Each episode focuses on a different teen label, for example drama school divas, skaters, or rockers - whatever the winning groups come up with as the teen labels they want to portray.

To apply, teenagers must fill in the short application form at www.rte.ie by 6pm on Wednesday, June 2nd. On the application form, teens need to list teen labels that they see around them everyday – perhaps Emos? Gleeks? Football Fanatics? Skaters?

The series will be directed by David Coffey, best known as Dan from RTÉ Two series ‘Dan & Becs’. Series Producer, Maya Derrington, who recently directed feature documentary ‘Pyjama Girls’, says of the series “Swede Me’ is great opportunity for young people to present their view of the world, have a laugh and learn about TV and filmmaking at the same time.”

Applicants should be part of a group - a group of friends, schoolmates, a sports team, scouts or a drama group, for example. All members of the group must be aged between 12 and 17 years to take part. Groups that are selected must be free for three days between 28thof June and 16th July 2010 to create, star and film their episodes with the Swede Me team, the Still Films crew behind the RTÉ series, ‘Sweded TV’.
