Galway Film Fair Invites Submissions

Tweet The 2010 Galway Film Fleadh this year runs from July 6th to 11th. As part of the upcoming event individuals are currently invited to submit applications for both the festival’s Film Fair and Pitching Award. The deadline for the former is Friday, May 28th and Friday, June 18th for the latter. The Galway Film Fair aims to be a unique opportunity for filmmakers to meet with the world’s leading financiers in an intimate and informal atmosphere, allowing new talent to be discovered and long term partnerships to be made. The Galway Film Fair co-ordinates pre-scheduled meetings between filmmakers with projects in development and invited Film Financiers, Distributors and Major Producers. Last year, the Galway Film Fair organised 560 meetings over the course of two days where 80 Irish and European producers pitched their projects to the 65 financiers who attended the Fair. Anyone who has a completed film/documentary or a project in development and would like to participate in the Galway Film Fair complete the application form available on the Galway Film Fleadh website and return it by Friday 28th May 2010 at the latest along with a €175 registration fee. Applicants should note that priority will be given to completed feature films or projects which have a finished screenplay available and a percentage of development and/or production finance in place. The deadline for this year’s Galway Film Fleadh Pitching Award submissions is Friday, June 18th. Applicants are asked to write and submit a 500-word story idea for screen with the winning applicant winning €3,000 and various pitching opportunities along the way. All received applications will be read by a panel selected from the film industry - and the best five will be shortlisted. The five writers will be contacted and invited to present their pitch to a panel of judges at the Galway Film Fleadh on Sunday, July 11th. This will take place in front of an audience during the Galway Film Fleadh. The Galway Film Fleadh will present the winner with a cheque for €3,000 at an awards ceremony also on the 11th July. Applicants must submit four copies of a one page (500 word) story idea for screen (any applications longer than specified will not be accepted). All copies must be submitted with the writer’s name not appearing on story pages. Entries will be read by a designated panel and the five best will be selected to be pitched by the writer in front of an audience at the Galway Film Fleadh on Sunday 11th July. A panel of judges will select the winner and the award will be presented that evening during the Awards Ceremony. The deadline for submissions is the 18th June 2010.
