The winners of the 2010 Celtic Media Festival have been announced. The Torc winners at this year’s event include several Irish projects such as ‘Seamus Heaney: Out of the Marvellous’, ‘The Secret of Kells’and ‘Seacht’ amongst others.
The Torc Awards are presented as part of the Celtic Media Festival, which ran from 21 – 23 April in Newry. Abú Media’s ‘Mobs Mheiriceá’ for TG4 saw a win for Brid and Eileen Seoighe in the category of Factual Series and TG4 had further reason to celebrate when the station won in the Titles, Stings, Idents and Promos group.
Icebox Films and RTÉ’s co-production ‘Seamus Heaney: Out of the Marvellous’ walked away with the event’s Arts Torc, whilst RTÉ’s other projects ‘Prime Time Investigates – Travellers:On the Edge’ was awarded the Current Affairs honour and ‘Jump Spin Grind’ won in the Children’s group. The Kieran Hegarty Award for Interactivity was presented to Michelle Gallen’s Irish social networking site, Labhair Gaeilge.
The festival’s Animation prize was bestowed on Cartoon Saloon’s ‘The Secret of Kells’ and the Young People category saw Colin O’Donnell and Louise McCreesh being lauded for the Irish language television series ‘Seacht’. Where Short Drama is concerned, ‘If I Should Fall Behind’, written and directed by Morgan Bushe and produced by Rory Dungan, emerged victorious from the festival.
