BANFF Nom for ‘Grand Slam Journey’

Grand Slam Journey Tweet RTÉ Sport’s documentary, ‘Ireland’s Grand Slam Journey’ has been nominated for an award at the 2010 Banff World Television Awards. The IFTA award-winning rugby documentary was produced and directed for RTÉ by Dave Berry (The Dubs: Story of a Season) and Nathan Nugent (editor, Waveriders). The Banff World Television Awards, known as the ‘Rockies’, look to recognise creativity and innovation from the world’s television programming. Chosen from 900 entries from more than 43 countries ‘Ireland’s Grand Slam Journey’ is one of six nominees in the Sports Documentary category and the only Irish nomination at the festival. In March 2009, Ireland ended a 61 year wait for Grand Slam glory and landed their first RBS 6 Nations Championship. RTÉ's cameras followed the drama unfolding from the low after the Autumn Internationals and throughout every second of action over the RBS 6 Nations tournament. The team talked candidly about the challenges they faced both on and off the pitch. Ireland’s Grand Slam Journey heard from Paul O'Connell, Brian O'Driscoll, Tommy Bowe, Ronan O'Gara, and many more of the players on the dedication required and emotions they experienced on every step of their Grand Slam journey.
