Two International Screenwriter’s Workshops come to Ireland this week bringing with them American screenwriter Jim Hart whose past work includes ‘Hook’, ‘August Rush’ and ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ and Andrew Bovell who has written the scripts for ‘Lantana’, ‘Edge of Darkness’ and ‘Strictly Ballrooom’.
Friday, April 16th will see éQuinoxe Germany bring its International Screenwriters´ Workshop to Connemara with a session entitled ‘Deconstructing Dracula’ hosted by Jim Hart. Following this, Sunday, April 25th will see Andrew Bovell host a masterclass called ‘Adaptation/Anatomy of a Screenplay’ in Dublin.
Jim Hart will deconstruct his screenplay for Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’. Hart will deconstruct the structuring of his screenplay and introduce his “Hart Chart”, a tool for optimising script structure, and explain how he came to develop it after working with Francis Ford Coppola.
Australian screenwriter Andrew Bovell will discuss his writing and adaptation process, with particular reference to ‘Lantana’. Bovell will also discuss his San Sebastian award-winning screenplay ‘Blessed’, and thriller ‘Edge of Darkness’.
