It has been announced that leading Irish post-production companies Ardmore Sound and Screen Scene are to merge. The two companies will now operate together to offer combined services to the Irish and international marketplace.
“This is a simple story,” says Jim Duggan, MD Screen Scene of the merger. “Both Ardmore Sound and ourselves have talented people and complimentary sound infrastructures. Now, rather than spending money maintaining two competing facilities, we will be combining investment in a single world class operation, this makes real sense, consolidation is a good thing in this current climate.”
Paul Moore, Chair of Ardmore Sound, commented: "This merger means that Ireland will now be able to compete directly with other major centres of post. With Screen Scene's reputation in picture and Ardmore Sound's reputation in sound, the international marketplace will now have a complete, viable alternative to the best facilities in the world. Both companies have invested heavily in the development of infrastructure and talent and now this talent will have an even better opportunity to compete on the world stage.”
Both brands are well known throughout the post-production world so while the companies will pool talent and facilities in a bid to create a world class Film, Television and Foley infrastructure, both will retain their individual identities and client bases.
“We are not trying to change the way people work, some people want only picture or only sound, others want both, we have always done whatever makes sense for the job and now we have even greater flexibility to offer. This makes real sense for us and hopefully the industry at large,” says Jim Duggan. Both companies, though now working together, will remain in their respective locations.
