Amateur and professional filmmakers who are passionate about human rights are currently being invited to submit original human rights short to the 2010 ICCL Human Rights Film Award, Ireland’s only human rights short film competition.
The work of five finalists will be screened as part of a gala evening in Dublin’s Light House Cinema in summer 2010. The competition's prize winner will be selected by a Jury which includes filmmakers Kirsten Sheridan (August Rush) and Rebecca Miller (The Private Lives of Pippa Lee). The Prizes for the 2010 Awards will be announced shortly and will be of equivalent or greater value to the prizes offered in our inaugural 2009 competition where the winning individual filmmaker won full accreditation to the Venice Film Festival 2010, along with coverage of travel and accommodation costs. Runners up prizes in 2009 included equipment rental, studio and production time, and master classes from the ICCL Human Rights Film Awards' sponsors and supporters in the Irish film industry.
The deadline for entries is Friday, April 16th. For full competition details and for an application pack visit the competition website at: www.humanrightsfilmawards.org. Any further queries should be e-mailed to info@iccl.ie.
The ICCL Human Rights Film Awards is organised in association with The Irish Examiner, Filmbase, The Light House Cinema, Windmill Lane and the IFI.
