Nick Hamm Starts ‘Killing Bono’
06 Jan 2010 :
Robert Sheehan
Nick Hamm’s new project, ‘Killing Bono’, will commence shooting on Monday, January 11th in Belfast. The film stars Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia), Irish actor Robert Sheehan (Cherrybomb, Misfits) and, a new addition to the cast, Krysten Ritter (Confessions of a Shopaholic).

The film’s shoot will last for six weeks and will move from Belfast to London before returning to Belfast. Barnes and Sheehan play brothers Neil and Ivan McCormick respectively. The pair formed a band in Dublin in the late 70s - but found themselves constantly compared to their classmates’ band, namely U2.

Neil McCormick’s autobiographical book ‘Killing Bono: I was Bono’s Doppelgänger’ has been adapted by the same writers who penned ‘The Commitments’, Dick Clement and Ian la Frenais and will be produced by Mark Huffam from Generator Entertainment (Mickybo and Me, executive producer of The Hours), Nick Hamm, U2’s former agent Ian Flooks (Confetti) and The Salt Company’s Piers Tempest (Like Minds).

The film has received funding support from Northern Ireland Screen.
