RTÉ's landmark series, ‘21st Century Child’, returns to our screens on 2 November for its second series which continues tracing the growth of a group of 12 children in the first six years of their lives.
Presented by Clinical Psychologist David Coleman, ‘21st Century Child’ looks at how our children are developing and examines the different challenges and choices faced by modern parents as they bring up their children in a changing and challenging Ireland.
The series is directed by Lavinia Darby (The Blizzard of Odd), edited by Paul Giles (Mind’s Eye), executive produced by Adrian Lynch (Test the Nation II) and the series producer is Liz Faulkner (The Des Bishop Work Experience).
Each week this documentary series combines family stories and expert analysis, tracking the changes that have taken place for the families since the show’s first series and asking why children develop as they do and exploring how children communicate, become attached to their parents, learn and how their personalities develop.
As the reality of recession bites, life for the featured families changes. Parental relationships come under strain, difficult decisions are reached and, in certain cases, emigration is considered.
21st Century Child will broadcast on RTÉ1 on Monday, November 2nd at 9.35pm.
