Dublin-based Boulder Media have joined forces with Dandelion Studios and Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe to produce a full-length animation series commission ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’. Boulder will provide their animation expertise and will act as the series’ associate-producers.
Created by Ben Bocquelet (Hell’s Kitchen), who is also the series’ executive producer, ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’ is a 40 x 11 minute comedy series combining 2D and 3D animation with live-action footage and photographic backgrounds. BAFTA winner Mic Graves (The Cantuerbury Tales) is the series’ director and Boulder Media’s Emmy nominated Robert Cullen (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends) is director of animation.
Gumball is a hyper-active, 10 year old cat who’s trying to squeeze as much fun as possible out of every second in his life. Except his idea of fun is a little odd to some and tends to lead him into a snowballing cycle of chaos.
‘The Amazing World of Gumball’ is being produced for Turner Broadcasting’s Cartoon Network by Dandelion Studios Ltd in association with Boulder Media Ltd. Daniel Lennard is Executive Producer for Turner and series’ producer is Joanna Beresford with line-producer Ian McCue. Producers for Boulder are Anne Tweedy and Peter Lewis. Boulder has accessed Section 481 funding for the project and will employ around forty people via its production company, Hawkins Productions.
Boulder Media’s previous credits include the Annie Award winning ‘El Tigre’ for Nickelodeon and HD animated series ‘Arty Farty’ for Coco Television and RTÉ. “We’re really delighted Turner Broadcasting and Dandelion chose to work with us,” says Boulder CO, Peter Lewis. “It’s a great show and a great team.”
