Clones Film Festival 2009, which runs from 21 - 25 October, has launched the third Scanbitz Short Film Challenge. The challenge gives both experienced and student filmmakers, writers and crew, the chance to script, prep, scout locations, cast, rehearse, film, edit and present a finished short film - all in just 48 hours!
Last year’s competition resulted in five films which can be viewed on ,a target="new" href="http://www.clonesfilmfestival.com">www.clonesfilmfestival.com. The winner of this year’s festival will receive the ‘Francie’ trophy and there will also be an audience award up for grabs. In addition, this year the winners of the challenge will walk away with two student places in the International Film School.
Each filmmaking team will be given a budget of €400 to cover all expenses including costumes, transport, catering etc. Clones Film Festival will provide a production base and a location assistant who will liaise with each team.
Interested production teams are invited to submit a detailed proposal of the film they wish to make (max 200 words). Each film’s final running time must be no more than eight minutes and can be as short as you like. Films can be any genre - drama, documentary, stop-motion animation, though it must be feasible to shoot the film in one day with a skeleton crew. Feasibility will be taken into account when proposals are judged. Interested parties should also note that all films must be filmed in and around the Clones area.
All films must be completed over the weekend (Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October) and no filming is allowed prior to arriving in Clones. The deadline for receipt of the finished films is 1pm on Sunday 25th October. Furthermore all filmmakers must be able to attend the 'Francies' award ceremony on the closing night of the festival, Sunday 25th October 2009.
Deadline for entries is October 5th, 2009 and entries and proposals must
be submitted by e-mail. Send your proposal, team name and C.V. or credits of your proposed project’s Director/Producer, Camera Operator, Editor and any other key
crew to info@clonesfilmfestival.com. For more info call Harry Cleary on 047-52309 or 086-3542895
