Telegael & Studio Solas Open LA Office
14 Jul 2009 :
The Telegael Group, based in An Spideal Galway, and Studio Solas, based in Connemara, have together opened a North American office in Los Angeles, California, which will be headed by veteran producer Norman Siderow (Stardust) who has worked in both Ireland and the United States.

Both companies offer a range of filming and post production facilities which they hope to develop and grow with their new West Coast office. This new base will enable the businesses to develop relationships with US companies, to promote the range of facilities which both companies can offer and to highlight the advantages of Ireland as an international production location.

Telegeal, who have won multiple Emmy’s, are one of Ireland's largest live-action and animation production houses operating one of Europe's leading post-production facilities. Studio Solas operates the former Roger Corman Film Studios in Connemara, which it acquired from the legendary film producer in 2007. Telegael and Studio Solas have successfully collaborated on the highly acclaimed ‘Aifric’ television series for TG4, which has recently been picked up for international distribution.

“Our over-riding ambition is to develop and grow the film and television industry in the West of Ireland", says John Brady, Chief Executive of Studio Solas. "We are thrilled to have someone of Norman's caliber and experience working with us on the ground in LA. This will be a major help in actively seeking out international co-producing partners in the area of TV drama and feature films".

"Telegael has developed significant links with producers in the Los Angeles region in recent years", says Paul Cummins, CEO of the Telegael Group. "The establishment of a permanent presence in LA will help us to nourish these existing relationships, identify new opportunities and grow our presence in the global entertainment industry. The combined resources of Telegael and Studio Solas offer international producers a comprehensive range of studio facilities, experienced production personnel and considerable experience in accessing Irish tax-based investment and other sources of production finance.”

It is hoped combining production facilities and access to Irish tax-based investment funds will prove very attractive to many US and international production companies for the long term development of both of these Irish companies and their holding in the United States.
