The National Film School at the Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT) is this week hosting the ENGAGE co-production project at its Dun Laoghaire campus and at the Light House Cinema.
Organised by NFS Creative Director Donald Taylor Black and following a highly successful pilot programme last year, IADT and its partners, Screen Academy Scotland/Edinburgh Napier University, the Baltic Film and Media School (Estonia), as well as UIAH (Helsinki) - new to the consortium in 2009, have once again secured EU MEDIA funding from Brussels.
Focusing on the development process, the 24 screenwriters and producers from the four film schools and elsewhere will be forging partnerships and alliances over three practical workshops – the second one will take place in Edinburgh in June and in Estonia and Helsinki in September.
Taking place on from Wednesday 1st April until Friday 3rd, participants will view Lance Daly's ‘Kisses’ as a case study with input from producer, Macdara Kelleher, while there will also be contributions from writer/director, Gerry Stembridge (Alarm); script editor, Rachel O'Flanagan (On Home Ground); and producer, David Collins (Once).
