Irish cinematographer Tim Fleming has been listed as one of the Top 10 Cinematographers to Watch, by top industry journal Variety.
The Galway born cinematographer, who was noted for his work on John Carney’s multi award-winning ‘Once’, has worked on numerous Irish films including Niall Heery’s ‘Small Engine Repair and Robert Quinn’s ‘Cre na Cille’. Three of his films also featured in this year’s Dublin Film Festival.
Other cinematographers included in Variety’s Top 10 were English cinematographer Henry Braham (The Golden Compass, Shackleton), Larry Fong (300), French Cinematographer Eric Gautier (Into the Wild) and Alwin H. Kuchler (Proof, Sunshine).
The DOP, who worked as a painter before moving into film, told Variety he enjoys the collaborative element of filmmaking and loves being on the film set.
"I started as a painter years ago, and I found myself quietly going mad," he said.
Fleming will be honoured at the prestigious American Film Institute festival party on Wednesday 7th November on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.
