The Boston Irish Film Festival (BIFF) is proud to announce the winners of its first ever BIFF Awards. Awards were given in three categories - Best Feature, Best Documentary & Best Short/Animation - with an honorary Director's Choice Award, solicited out-of-competition. The winners are:
Best Feature: Boxed / Director: Marion Comer
Best Documentary: Darkroom / Director: Ian Thuillier
Best Short/Animation: From Darkness / Director: Nora Twomey
Director's Choice Award: Photos to Send / Director: Deirdre Lynch
All winners will have their works screened at the Fifth Annual Boston Irish Film Festival (BIFF 5) scheduled for April 25-28, 2003 at the Brattle Theatre, the Harvard Film Archive, and the Coolidge Corner Theatre. BIFF 5 will open with the American premiere of 'Puckoon' and conclude with the East Coast premiere of Jim Sheridan's eagerly awaited 'In America'. Other titles scheduled include 'Irish Eyes', 'Disco Pigs', 'Magdalene Sisters', and 'Give Up Yer Aul Sins - The Series'.
