First back past the post from this years MIPCOM festival was
Terraglyph Productions where they report an extremely busy and useful market. Their animation feature Carnivale is en route to Sitges for the International Film Festival of Catalonia where it has been selected for competition.
Due to be screened on Saturday 9th, it had its premiere screening at the Galway Film Fleadh and is due to be released in Europe in the New Year.
Terryglyph are currently in post production with their new animated film, Help! I’m a Fish, and are preparing to work on their new Deane Taylor film, The Duck Ugly. This will be Terryglyphs third feature in three years and marks an important stage in their company lifecycle.
The end of October is also looming large for Samson Productions. Both Rat, the Wesley Burrowes scripted feature, and The Most Fertile Man in Ireland are both set to begin shooting at the end of this month. The Most Fertile Man, loosely termed a romantic comedy, will shoot for two weeks in Belfast where the film is set and 5 weeks at Ardmore studios. It has a full production schedule of 16 weeks, which the team are eager to stick to.
Produced by David Collins and Dudi Appleton the film received funding from the Northern Ireland Film Commission under the EU special support programme for peace and reconciliation. To qualify for this scheme the production crew should be part sourced in Northern Ireland and have a production spend in the North of £400,000.
Rat will feature the work of the Jim Henson company developing the animatronics used in the feature. Although some post production work with the animatronics may go abroad, it is expected that it will be shot exclusively in Ireland. The Wesley Burrowes story will be directed by Steve Baron and produced by Alison Owen.
