We wrote earlier today about Pat Collins’ creative take on the life of traditional Irish singer Joe Heaney opening the 2017 Fleadh.
The same title has been acquired by the distributor whose slate includes ‘We Need to Talk About Kevin’, ‘Above and Below’ and ‘Wuthering Heights’.
‘Song of Granite’ premiered at SXSW this March and will open the Fleadh in a programme which also includes ‘Pilgrimage’ (Brendan Muldowney), ‘Maze’ (Stephen Burke’ and ‘In the Name of Peace: John Hume in America’ (Maurice Fitzpatrick).
The project is produced by Alan Maher and Jessie Fisk of Marcie Films and Martin Paul-Hus of Amerique Films and is distinguished blend of narrative with archive footage sets it apart from other documentary titles.
Colm Seoighe, Macdara Ó’Fátharta, Jaren Cerf, Lisa O’Neill, Damien Dempsey, and sean nós singers Micheál O’Confhaola and Pól Ó Ceannabháin make up the eclectic cast.
