‘Seconds To Live’, part of the Reality Bites series on RTÉ2, will air on Thursday, November 26th at 10pm.
‘Seconds To Live’ is a fly on the wall documentary shot over the course of five months in Cork which looks at the work and personal lives of Corks Rapid Response team of specialist Doctors who volunteer their time in order to ‘bring the operating theatre to the roadside’ in extreme cases.
The narrative is punctuated with interviews with the cast as they offer insights to their lives and how this work can impact on their personal scenarios.
The responders comprise of a team of highly skilled doctors who give up their time outside of their regular job in the hospital and general practice to bring the operating room to the roadside where time and movement of injured parties can be a matter of life or death which at times can be risky to themselves. These dedicated men are on call 24 hours a day 365 days of the year. Their dedication is shared by their families as they can be called upon at any time on any day. They are currently unpaid lifesaving volunteers. ‘Seconds To Live’ joins them at home, at work, on the road and in the sky.
The documentary from Galway-based company Buddy Pictures Ltd is directed by John Norton, who is also Series Producer. Adrian Devane produces.
