‘The Gardener’ is a short poetry film produced by Design for Life and based on the relationship between a mother and child.
The piece, directed by Simon Daniels, is an adaptation of a poem by Dublin poet Stephen James Smith.
"When I first saw Stephen perform ‘The Gardener’ it really stuck with me," Simon commented. "At its very heart, it’s a poem that everyone can identify with. Both myself and Stephen felt that the most appropriate time to release this is leading up to Mother’s Day."
Shot over a day, featuring performances by Stephen James Smith and Rita Quinn, the five and a half minute film explores the universality of the parent/child dynamic through the medium of poetry and in doing so, reveals the beauty of this unique bond.
The film has just been released online having been screened at The Belfast Film Festival, The Waterford Film Festival, The Underground Cinema Film Festival, and as part of the 10 Days in Dublin Film Festival.
