Popular reality show ‘MasterChef’ will return to our screens on October 4 as judges Nick Munier and Dylan McGrath search for the next big talent in the cookery world.
In the first episode, airing on RTÉ Two next Thursday, audiences will see the judges whittle 50 amateur cooks down to just 16 who will make the show.
Each cook will have 55 minutes to impress Michelin Star chef McGrath and restaurateur Munier in the hope of getting a ‘yes’ vote from both of them. If a contestant splits the judges’ decision, they can be given a ‘lifeline’ and asked to return the following day and have another shot in the cook-off.
This season will see the cooks face culinary challenges from mystery boxes with a twist, mass catering, pop-up restaurants, the hard task of making ice cream, as well as a visit overseas. The eventual winner will be crowned MasterChef Ireland 2012 and will walk away with €25,000 in prize money.
Screentime ShinAwil is helming the Irish version of the hit show, with series producer Linda McQuaid returning after a stint on Screentime’s other hit format ‘The Voice of Ireland’. Larry Bass will executive produce.
Dublin-based Piranha Bar is finishing up post-production on the series, which will run for 11 weeks on RTÉ Two.
Tune into RTÉ Two on Thursday (October 4) at 9.30pm to see which hopefuls will be in the running for the MasterChef Ireland title.
