The Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) will host an exclusive preview screening of ‘Titanic: Blood and Steel’ in Dublin, Tuesday 10 April. Special guests on the night, director Ciaran Donnelly and producer Paul Myler, will hold a Q&A afterwards for IFTA Members.
Ciaran Donnelly (The Tudors) and Paul Myler (The Guard) worked off a script written by Matthe Faulk, Mark Skeet and Stefano Voltaggio. ‘Titanic: Blood and Steel’ charts the story of the infamous ship’s construction in Belfast in 1912 and the lives of those involved in her short-lived journey.
The 12-part miniseries was shot in a number of locations around Dublin late last year, including Dublin Castle, Henrietta Street and Earlsfort Terrace. The epic drama represents a wealth of Irish acting talent among the impressive cast. Irish-born Liam Cunningham (The Wind That Shakes the Barley), Gerard McCarthy (Hollyoaks) and Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones) all feature alongside Hollywood heavyweights Chris Noth (Sex and the City), Neve Campbell (Scream) and Derek Jacobi (Gladiator).
Dublin-based Windmill Lane Studios were in charge of picture and CGI post-production, while Ardmore Studios mixed the sound. Jo Homewood (In America) was production manager for the project, while Tom Conroy oversaw the production design and Luciano Capozzi provided costume design.
The special IFTA event is Free for Members of IFTA and begins at 06.30pm sharp on Tuesday, 10 April, and will take place in the IFI. For information about joining IFTA log on to www.ifta.ie.
