Thomas Hefferon’s ‘The Confession’ and Ken Walsh’s ‘Matterhorn’ are set to screen at this year’s Soho Shorts Festival, taking place from July 23rd – 1st August 2008.
‘The Confession’, written and directed by Hefferon, will screen in the Short Film category of the fest. Produced by Prototype Pictures, the film was shot over three days in early December 2007 by DOP Andrew Edger and stars Donncha Crowley (Headrush, Kings) and Sean Flanagan (The Boy from Mercury, The Clinic).
The four minute short, set in 1970's rural Ireland, follows a young man's attempt to confess his sins to the local priest, who is more interested in gossiping about the local women than absolving the penitent. Editing for the film was completed by Kevin de la Isla and Thomas Hefferon.
‘Matterhorn’, written and directed by Ken Walshe, is set to screen in the Newcomers category of the festival. Produced by Sasha King, the film stars Niamh Cusack (Heartbeat, Fallen Angel) and Aidan Turner (The Sound of People) and tells the story of a woman who decudes to take control of her destiny. The film was shot by DOP Patrick Jordan.
