Irish feature films are once again performing well in the international sales arena. Paddy Breathnach’s horror ‘Shrooms’ and John Carney’s Sundance winner ‘Once’ and David Gleeson’s ‘The Front Line’ are among the titles securing sales at the Berlin Film Festival.
Irish feature films are once again performing well in the international sales arena. Paddy Breathnach’s horror ‘Shrooms’ and John Carney’s Sundance winner ‘Once’ and David Gleeson’s ‘The Front Line’ are among the titles securing sales at the Berlin Film Festival.
Screendaily reports Breathnach’s ‘Shrooms’ has secured a number of territories following a feverish bidding war at the Berlin Film Market. Switzerland’s Ascot Elite has secured rights to all German speaking territories, with Capitol Films negotiating the sale.
David Gleeson’s multi IFTA nominated drama ‘The Front Line’ has secured a major deal with Film Entertainment Group in Benelux. Sold through High Point Films, the feature to date has also been picked up by Alberto Bitelli Films in Brazil and Falcon in the Middle East.
Summit Entertainment have reported strong interest in John Carney’s Sundance Audience Award winning musical ‘Once’. The pic has sold to Icon in the UK and Australia, Kinowelt in Germany, SND in France and Toshiba in Japan. In addition to an earlier deal announced with Fox Searchlight. BVI have Irish rights to the film which releases nationwide next month.
