Tutored by industry professionals, the course offers a hands-on, step by step approach that will take a group of ten from a starting idea to two finished short films. Tutored by director, Paul Mercier, this 2 day practical workshop will guide directors and actors on how to work a scene together. The participants will get an insight into how to approach the scene from script to rehearsal and going for a take. The workshop will provide an understanding to directors and actors of the different challenges facing them when working on a scene. It will also give insights on how actors and directors can collaborate together to get the most out of their work. Over the 2 days, participants will workshop different scenes together and compare and contrast the different approaches.

Splanc! is the Irish language arts documentary scheme that supports the creative exploration of the arts in Ireland. This season aims to fund short films of three –five minutes in duration on any art form which will form a collective response to 100 years of art in Ireland. A total fund of €120,000 is available to support up to nine short films.

Foyle Film Festival, a flagship project of the Nerve Centre, is the annual celebration of independent films, acclaimed feature length movies, documentaries and short films. This year the Festival will run from Wednesday, November 18 - Sunday, November 22. Over the last 28 years the Festival has become renowned for attracting high profile names such as Brendan Gleeson, Ray Winstone, Wim Wenders, Cillian Murphy, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Kenneth Branagh, Roddy Doyle, Jimmy McGovern, Sam Shepherd, Danny Boyle, Paul Greengrass, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Stephen Rea, Julien Temple, Andrea Arnold - to name but a few. This year’s Festival will be no different.
