Submissions for the 60th Cork Film Festival are now open. Running in November 2015, the 60th anniversary will see Cork City play host to some very special events and screenings. One of Europe’s oldest film festivals, Cork Film Festival plays a rich selection of the best of contemporary global cinema and is always on the look out for interesting new voices.

The Golden Globe Award is an American accolade bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented is a major part of the film industry's awards season, which culminates each year with the Academy Awards. The 72nd Golden Globe Awards, honoring the best in film and television for 2014, will be presented on January 11, 2015, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, where they have been held annually since 1961.[2]

INTRODUCTION TO PROSTHETICS Thursday 15th to Saturday 17th January 2015 This two/three-day course will introduce participants to the process of making basic prosthetics, focusing on flat moulds and offering participants the chance to sculpt, mould and apply a simple wound prosthetic. An optional third day will focus specifically on life casting.

Screen Training Ireland is re-launching its ASSET initiative, and to mark Irish Design 2015, is broadening the fund to include specialist skills in design for physical production, including Art Department, Costume, and Make-Up.

30th January 2015 Higher Diploma in Televsion WIT

The Higher Diploma in Arts in Television Production, developed by WIT and Nemeton Television in partnership with Udarás na Gaeltachta, has been successfully preparing new media talent since 2006. This year long course is designed to provide students with the essential practical skills in order to work as professionals in the television and digital video industry.

The course will offer each of the participants the opportunity to work in a live production environment and at the end of the course each student will have directed or edited his or her own television programme. These programmes will satisfy the broadcast criteria of both TG4 and RTE. The course will be taught through the Irish language and therefore will also develop the linguistic abilities of students.

Applicants must hold a Level 7 qualification or higher and must have a level of competency in spoken Irish. Applicants without the above minimum requirements but with relevant industrial experience and language competency will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Screen Training Ireland and Digital Skills Centre Tralee are seeking participants for a Lighting Workshop.

This practical, hands-on course aims to upskill camera professionals in lighting techniques for drama and other genres. Through demonstrations, discussion, analysis and lighting set-ups, participants will gain hands-on experience in lighting a variety of interior and exterior scenes.
