Eight evenings devoted to exploring the ins and outs of scriptwriting, geared towards those with little or no previous experience in the field. Priority is placed on putting a lot of the scary myths of screenwriting to rest and creating a context in which the participants can develop their own project over the duration of the course. People should come along armed with a story idea they’d like to pursue, whether it’s at the “two lines on a scrap of paper” stage or even if they’ve already had a crack at a script.

The Galway Film Fleadh – Ireland’s leading film festival, is a six day international film event held every July and welcomes a mad diversity of filmmaking from around the world. The Fleadh is very much a film lovers’ festival, and attracts directors, actors, cinematographers and artists of all generations and cultural backgrounds.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has issued a call for applications under its Funding Scheme for the Archiving of Programme Material (“Archiving Scheme”). The Archiving Scheme has been designed to provide funding support for the development of an archiving culture in the Irish broadcasting sector, contributing to the preservation of Ireland’s broadcasting heritage. It is funded through a percentage of the Broadcasting Fund.

KFF has previously featured successful shorts such as the Oscar short-listed ‘Head over Heels’ in 2012 and the 2014 Oscar winner ‘Mr Hublot’. Emerging filmmakers are at the core of the Kerry Film Festival programme, with the short film competition geared towards showcasing their work and bringing it to a wider audience both at home and throughout a growing network of partner festivals across the globe.

On completion of the course participants will have gained the knowledge required to operate the Blackmagic URSA & Pocket Cinema cameras, learn basic film making techniques including composition and working with different lighting setups.

Filmbase is bringing a new Summer camp; this 4-day programme is for aspiring filmmakers aged 11-14 to learn various aspects of the art form. This hands-on course will introduce students to the fundamentals of developing a simple story to the screen via our state-of-the-art in-house camera kits.
