7th-17th March 2016 GMIT International Cook Serve Challenge - Gréasán na Meán

GMIT International Cook Serve Challenge which is running for a week in Galway in March with Gréasán na Meán producing a web based video magazine programme that covers all aspects of the challenge. They will document the competition, produce backstories on the participants and create lots of short films about food in Galway. Participants will receive on-site training from industry professionals and will also participate in a series of high end craft workshops. They will be completely hands on in the publication of an online video magazine for the GMIT International Cook Serve Challenge. It is an ideal opportunity for filmmakers who want to expand their skills and contacts in both the food and television industries.

On the scheme, each mentee is matched with a leading film industry professional who provides advice and guidance over a nine-month period. The current edition of the scheme saw, amongst others, Ben Wheatley (Sightseers, High Rise), Andrew Macdonald (Trainspotting, The Last King of Scotland) and Matt Charman (Suite Francaise, Bridge of Spies) join former mentors, including Abi Morgan, Barbara Broccoli, Lone Sherfig, Joanna Hogg, Hossein Amini, Sam Mendes, Alex Garland, Nira Park and Kenneth Branagh.

Dingle International Film Festival is couched within the breathtaking town of Dingle on the beautiful Dingle Peninsula, southwest Ireland and is part of The Wild Atlantic Way. The festival takes places annually in mid-March and as such it often celebrates St Patrick’s Day as part of its festival programming. Dingle is home to many film makers, one of Ireland’s only independent cinemas, is a known film location (Ryan’s Daughter, Far and Away) and a major tourist destination making it the perfect home for their festival.

RTÉ’s Format Farm is teaming up with Norwegian National Broadcaster NRK to offer €10,000 development funding for an impactful format that entertains viewers that can broadcast on both the Norwegian and Irish domestic market in the first instance. Executives from RTÉ and NRK will hear 5 finalist pitches at the Celtic Media Festival on 21st of April 2016. The aims of the Format Farm development pitch is to support and inspire creativity and innovation.
