Belfast filmmaker Maeve Murphy - writer and director of ‘Beyond the Fire’ and ‘Amazing Grace’ - has begun filming her latest feature ‘Taking Stock’ with model and actress Kelly starring in the lead role.
Principal photography on the film - which is inspired by Bonnie & Clyde and based upon Murphy’s short 'Sushi' - commenced today, 1st July, in London.
Irish producer Frank Mannion’s Swipe Films will act as the worldwide sales agent for the film and will pitch it to buyers at London UK Film Focus, the annual British film export event. Mr Mannion will also act as executive producer on the film.
The plot follows Kelly Brook’s character who decides to rob the store where she works and get revenge against her manager, following a particularly bad week in which she loses her boyfriend and faces unemployment.
Ms Murphy’s previous film ‘Beyond the Fire’ won Best Feature at the London Independent Film Festival and Best Feature at New York’s Garden State Film Festival.
Produced by Geoff Austin and Maeve Murphy, ‘Taking Stock’ was developed by Northern Ireland Screen and co-financed by Prime Focus.
Supporting cast members include Scot Williams (‘Dead Man Running’), Georgia Groome (‘Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging’), Jay Brown (‘Youngers’) and Femi Oyeniran (‘Anuvahood’), with Director of Photography Gerry Vasbenter (‘History Boys’).
Swipe Films previously sold the Golden Globe winner ‘Osama’; ‘In Prison My Whole Life’ with Colin Firth; and ‘Love Live Long’, directed by Mike Figgis.
