Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) hosted an event to mark their selection as an educational collaborator with Blackmagic Design.

DkIT invited students and prospective students to join them to celebrate their partnership with Blackmagic Design at an event on campus where four industry professionals talked about their creative journeys and how they use Blackmagic design products daily. This occasion also facilitated demonstrations of the Blackmagic Design products for all the attendees.

The Blackmagic Design company has established an Education Partner Program and have invited DkIT to be one of ten key Education Partners across Europe.

Blackmagic has grown to become one of the world's leading manufacturers of creative video technology. The company’s founders have a history in post-production editing and engineering. This partnership will position DkIT as a centre for post-production training in Europe.

The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music in DkIT have invested this year in its audio-visual labs and edit suites. This refurb included Apple Mac Studio computers, 4K Monitors, Media Servers and industry standard software, such as Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve.

The Film & TV course in DkIT has already been utilising a Blackmagic ecosystem consisting of digital cinema cameras, TV studio hardware and post-production facilities. The benefits of this new educational partnership will include Blackmagic providing free copies of Resolve Studio technology to DkIT. The Institute will receive a one-time financial credit on joining the programme and there will be student engagement opportunities in the form of Masterclasses with Industry experts in post-production. The Institute will be offered amazing opportunities to interact with other International Universities and Institutes in the programme.

“We are delighted to announce this partnership as an ongoing evolvement of our relationship with Blackmagic,” said Sarah McCann, Lecturer, Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music, DkIT. “Many of our lecturing team on the BA (Hons) in Film & Television Production recently became Certified Trainers of Da Vinci Resolve software so this partnership is the next logical step to ensure that we continue to offer our students industry-standard training throughout their degree.”
