IBEC Audiovisual Federation Review 2010
This AV Federation Review gives an overview of productions in 2009 / 2010 and relates to feature films, independent TV productions (including major TV dramas) and animation projects. The economic analysis for 2009 shows a production value of €243.3 million (2008: €246.8 million). This production value, while a slight decrease on 2008, is significantly higher than projected which, because of the economic environment, had been estimated to be €217 million.

The UK Film Council published their cultural report, Stories We Tell Ourselves: The Cultural Impact of UK Film 1946-2006. The report features a sub-chapter focusing on television and film in Northern Ireland examining how the Troubles have dominated the region’s identity as far as cinematic representation is concerned, at the expense of other themes.

Indecon Section 481 Review


Submitted to the Department of Finance in November 2007, the Indecon report concerns an independent review of the Section 481
tax-based incentive scheme for the Irish film sector. The background to the study is the fact that incentives for the film industry contained in Section 481 of the Taxes Consolidation Act (as amended) are due to expire on 31 December 2008.

BCI Sound & Vision Report 2007


The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland have published a report on Sound & Vision the broadcasting Funding Scheme detailing the schemes activities in 2007. To date the scheme has allocated over €46 million to television and radio productions and has processed 1295 applications.
