29 Apr 2014 | Accountancy firm Mazars and Clancy & Associates has been hired to raise €25m in Section 481 financing for the third series of ‘Vikings’, the History Channel’s hit drama which recently aired its first series on RTÉ Two. The scheme is expected to raise the biggest Section 481 funding for 2014.

RTÉ Seeks Ideas for GAA Championship Sports Programming
28 Apr 2014 | RTÉ Sport is seeking new ideas for its GAA Championship support funding. The international broadcaster is looking for a series of 15 programmes with a maximum budget of €300,000 excluding VAT and the presenter/narrator. The series will transmit on RTÉ Two on Thursdays from 8.30pm to 9pm or on Fridays from 8pm to 8.30pm.

Galway Film Centre offers Short Film Script Award

Northern Ireland Screen launches €52m Funding Plan
01 Apr 2014 | Following on from the major success of ‘Game of Thrones’, which added €105m (£87m) to the local economy, Northern Ireland is now hoping to encourage more high-end TV and film productions to the area. A new four-year €51.9m (£43m) plan is being launched by Northern Ireland Screen, the region’s funding body. The scheme, called ‘Opening Doors’, will run up until 2018 and hopes to develop Northern Ireland into a major screen industry.

RTÉ Calls for Comedy, Talent Development & Music Programming
31 Mar 2014 | A new department has been set up in RTÉ Commissioning, which is responsible for the commission of all comedy output for RTÉ One, RTÉ Two, and online content. The department will oversee all comedy formats, including panel comedy shows, scripted comedy, sitcom, satire, sketch shows, studio comedy and stand-up shows.
