Production has officially wrapped on Kavaleer and LTL’s co-produced animation ‘Lifeboat Luke’ with the new Irish series set to air on RTÉ in September.
Originally created by LTL’s Alastair McIlwain, ‘Lifeboat Luke’, is a 52 x 5 minute series aimed at young kids which combines nautical adventures with themes of water safety.
The series recently forged a partnership with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution which will see a percentage of the profits from the cartoon be donated to the RNLI and the work of its volunteers.
The animation series sees the friendly lifeboat, Luke, and his trusty sidekick Ardal, get involved in such perilous activities as saving lost rubber ducks from the sea near their village of Donaghadoo.
A co-production between Dublin’s Kavaleer and Belfast’s LTL Productions, the series is currently in the last stages of post production. Editing is being completed by Cóilín Ó Scolaí.
The project has been financed through a combination of private investment and support from the Northern Ireland Screen Commission, the Irish Film Board, the Broadcast Commission Ireland Sound & Vision, Banjax Studios Ltd and founder broadcaster RTÉ.
